STANDING ORDER

To

All Principal Officers,

Subject: The business of a shipping agent by shipping agents under the Gujarat Maritime Board Act, 1981, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Gujarat Maritime Board Act, 1981 (Gujarat Act 30 of 1981), the Law Department, Government of Gujarat hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the business of a shipping agent by shipping agents.

2. The matter has been examined. Every shipping agent carrying on the business of a shipping agent shall make an application in Form 6 to the Registrar of Ships within forty-five days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. The Principal Officer shall ensure that port clearance is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Registrar of Ships within forty-five days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Law Department, Government of Gujarat.
