STANDING ORDER

To

All Regionals Officer of the Board,

Subject: The production of plastic packaging by producers of plastic packaging under the Karnataka Forest Act, 1964, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Karnataka Forest Act, 1964 (Karnataka Act 5 of 1964), the Environment Department, Government of Karnataka hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the production of plastic packaging by producers of plastic packaging.

2. The matter has been examined. Every producer of plastic packaging carrying on the production of plastic packaging shall make an application in Form I to the Biodiversity Authority within fifteen days, accompanied by a fee of ten thousand rupees.

3. The Regional Officer of the Board shall ensure that plastic packaging is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Biodiversity Authority within fifteen days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Environment Department, Government of Karnataka.
