STANDING ORDER

To

All Assistant Labour Commissioners,

Subject: The employment of dock workers by owners of a dock under the Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1962, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1962 (Karnataka Act 8 of 1962), the Labour Department, Government of Karnataka hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the employment of dock workers by owners of a dock.

2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a dock carrying on the employment of dock workers shall make an application in Form V to the Labour Court within seven days, accompanied by a fee of five thousand rupees.

3. The Assistant Labour Commissioner shall ensure that certificate of registration is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Labour Court within seven days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Labour Department, Government of Karnataka.
