STANDING ORDER

All Municipal Engineers,

Subject: The carrying on of a dangerous or offensive trade by owners of a dangerous or offensive trade under the Chennai City Municipal Corporation Act, 1919, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Chennai City Municipal Corporation Act, 1919 (Tamil Nadu Act 4 of 1919), the Urban Development Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the carrying on of a dangerous or offensive trade by owners of a dangerous or offensive trade.

2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a dangerous or offensive trade carrying on the carrying on of a dangerous or offensive trade shall make an application in Form D to the Commissioner within fourteen days, accompanied by a fee of two thousand five hundred rupees.

3. The Municipal Engineer shall ensure that licence is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Commissioner within fourteen days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Urban Development Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
