STANDING ORDER

All Executive Engineers,

Subject: The maintenance of a dam by owners of a dam under the Kerala Irrigation and Water Conservation Act, 2003, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Kerala Irrigation and Water Conservation Act, 2003 (Kerala Act 31 of 2003), the Home Department, Government of Kerala hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the maintenance of a dam by owners of a dam.

2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a dam carrying on the maintenance of a dam shall make an application in Form E to the Dam Safety Authority within seven days, accompanied by a fee of one hundred rupees.

3. The Executive Engineer shall ensure that dam is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Dam Safety Authority within seven days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Home Department, Government of Kerala.
