STANDING ORDER

To

All Sub-Registrars,

Subject: The foster care of a child by foster parents under the Karnataka Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Act, 1997, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Karnataka Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Act, 1997 (Karnataka Act 33 of 1997), the Law Department, Government of Karnataka hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the foster care of a child by foster parents.

2. The matter has been examined. Every foster parent carrying on the foster care of a child shall make an application in Form V to the District Court within seven days, accompanied by a fee of ten rupees.

3. The Sub-Registrar shall ensure that declaration is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the District Court within seven days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Law Department, Government of Karnataka.
