STANDING ORDER

To

All Registrars of Inland Vessels,

Subject: The working of a port by port authorities under the Tamil Nadu Maritime Board Act, 1995, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Maritime Board Act, 1995 (Tamil Nadu Act 4 of 1995), the Ports Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the working of a port by port authorities.

2. The matter has been examined. Every port authority carrying on the working of a port shall make an application in Form 3 to the Inland Waterways Authority within fourteen days, accompanied by a fee of ten thousand rupees.

3. The Registrar of Inland Vessels shall ensure that port clearance is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Inland Waterways Authority within fourteen days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Ports Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
