STANDING ORDER

To

All Enforcement Officers,

Subject: The plying of a contract carriage by owners of a contract carriage under the Tamil Nadu Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1974, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1974 (Tamil Nadu Act 13 of 1974), the Transport Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the plying of a contract carriage by owners of a contract carriage.

2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a contract carriage carrying on the plying of a contract carriage shall make an application in Form 4 to the Government of Tamil Nadu within forty-five days, accompanied by a fee of two thousand rupees.

3. The Enforcement Officer shall ensure that goods receipt is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Government of Tamil Nadu within forty-five days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Transport Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
