STANDING ORDER

To

All Registrars of Births and Deaths,

Subject: The administration of an estate by administrators of an estate under the Karnataka Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Act, 1997, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Karnataka Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Act, 1997 (Karnataka Act 33 of 1997), the Law Department, Government of Karnataka hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the administration of an estate by administrators of an estate.

2. The matter has been examined. Every administrator of an estate carrying on the administration of an estate shall make an application in Form VII to the District Registrar within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. The Registrar of Births and Deaths shall ensure that succession certificate is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the District Registrar within thirty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Law Department, Government of Karnataka.
