STANDING ORDER

To

All Panchayat Inspectors,

Subject: The leasing of a village tank by lessees of a village tank under the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994 (Tamil Nadu Act 21 of 1994), the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the leasing of a village tank by lessees of a village tank.

2. The matter has been examined. Every lessee of a village tank carrying on the leasing of a village tank shall make an application in Form 3 to the District Collector within fourteen days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. The Panchayat Inspector shall ensure that assessment register is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the District Collector within fourteen days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
