OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The placement of children for adoption by adoption agencies under the Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Act, 1959, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Industries and Commerce Department, Government of Tamil Nadu on the manner in which the placement of children for adoption by adoption agencies is to be regulated under the Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Act, 1959.

2. The matter has been examined. Every adoption agency carrying on the placement of children for adoption shall make an application in Form IV to the Maintenance Tribunal within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of fifty rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the placement of children for adoption is undertaken, and the Maintenance Tribunal shall dispose of it within sixty days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Industries and Commerce Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
