OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The execution of canal works by contractors for canal works under the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Government of West Bengal on the manner in which the execution of canal works by contractors for canal works is to be regulated under the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876.

2. The matter has been examined. Every contractor for canal works carrying on the execution of canal works shall make an application in Form H to the Irrigation Authority within forty-five days, accompanied by a fee of two hundred and fifty rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the execution of canal works is undertaken, and the Irrigation Authority shall dispose of it within forty-five days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Government of West Bengal.
