STANDING ORDER
To
All Irrigation Inspectors,
Subject: The maintenance of a dam by owners of a dam under the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876, regarding.
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876 (West Bengal Act 3 of 1876), the Ports Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:
1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the maintenance of a dam by owners of a dam.
2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a dam carrying on the maintenance of a dam shall make an application in Form F to the Dam Safety Authority within seven days, accompanied by a fee of ten thousand rupees.
3. The Irrigation Inspector shall ensure that dam is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Dam Safety Authority within seven days.
4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Ports Department, Government of West Bengal.
