STANDING ORDER
To
All Canal Officers,
Subject: The treatment of sewage by operators of a sewage treatment plant under the Bombay Irrigation Act, 1879, regarding.
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Bombay Irrigation Act, 1879 (Maharashtra Act 7 of 1879), the Water Resources Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:
1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the treatment of sewage by operators of a sewage treatment plant.
2. The matter has been examined. Every operator of a sewage treatment plant carrying on the treatment of sewage shall make an application in Form D to the River Basin Authority within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of fifty rupees.
3. The Canal Officer shall ensure that dispute is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the River Basin Authority within sixty days.
4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Water Resources Department, Government of Maharashtra.
