OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The execution of works for a Panchayat by contractors engaged by a Panchayat under the Karnataka Gram Swaraj and Panchayat Raj Act, 1993, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Karnataka on the manner in which the execution of works for a Panchayat by contractors engaged by a Panchayat is to be regulated under the Karnataka Gram Swaraj and Panchayat Raj Act, 1993.

2. The matter has been examined. Every contractor engaged by a Panchayat carrying on the execution of works for a Panchayat shall make an application in Form 2 to the Block Development Officer within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of two hundred rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the execution of works for a Panchayat is undertaken, and the Block Development Officer shall dispose of it within sixty days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Karnataka.
