OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The recruitment of seafarers by recruitments and placement agency for seafarers under the Gujarat Maritime Board Act, 1981, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Mines and Geology Department, Government of Gujarat on the manner in which the recruitment of seafarers by recruitments and placement agency for seafarers is to be regulated under the Gujarat Maritime Board Act, 1981.

2. The matter has been examined. Every recruitment and placement agency for seafarers carrying on the recruitment of seafarers shall make an application in Form 3 to the Government of Gujarat within forty-five days, accompanied by a fee of one lakh rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the recruitment of seafarers is undertaken, and the Government of Gujarat shall dispose of it within forty-five days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Mines and Geology Department, Government of Gujarat.
