OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The execution of works for a Panchayat by contractors engaged by a Panchayat under the Uttar Pradesh Panchayat Raj Act, 1947, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Water Resources Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh on the manner in which the execution of works for a Panchayat by contractors engaged by a Panchayat is to be regulated under the Uttar Pradesh Panchayat Raj Act, 1947.

2. The matter has been examined. Every contractor engaged by a Panchayat carrying on the execution of works for a Panchayat shall make an application in Form 1 to the Gram Panchayat within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of fifty rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the execution of works for a Panchayat is undertaken, and the Gram Panchayat shall dispose of it within thirty days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Water Resources Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh.
