STANDING ORDER

To

All Village Accountants,

Subject: The holding of land in excess of the ceiling by holders of land in excess of the ceiling under the Maharashtra Tenancy and Agricultural Lands Act, 1948, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Maharashtra Tenancy and Agricultural Lands Act, 1948 (Maharashtra Act 67 of 1948), the Revenue Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the holding of land in excess of the ceiling by holders of land in excess of the ceiling.

2. The matter has been examined. Every holder of land in excess of the ceiling carrying on the holding of land in excess of the ceiling shall make an application in Form 12 to the Settlement Officer within one hundred and twenty days, accompanied by a fee of twenty rupees.

3. The Village Accountant shall ensure that register of holdings is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Settlement Officer within one hundred and twenty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Revenue Department, Government of Maharashtra.
