STANDING ORDER

All Tahsildars,

Subject: The occupation of land by occupants under the Bihar Tenancy Act, 1885, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Bihar Tenancy Act, 1885 (Bihar Act 8 of 1885), the Social Welfare Department, Government of Bihar hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the occupation of land by occupants.

2. The matter has been examined. Every occupant carrying on the occupation of land shall make an application in Form 12 to the Land Tribunal within one hundred and eighty days, accompanied by a fee of twenty rupees.

3. The Tahsildar shall ensure that khasra is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Land Tribunal within one hundred and eighty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Social Welfare Department, Government of Bihar.
