OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The employment of inter-State migrant workmen by employers of inter-State migrant workmen under the Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1962, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Law Department, Government of Karnataka on the manner in which the employment of inter-State migrant workmen by employers of inter-State migrant workmen is to be regulated under the Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1962.

2. The matter has been examined. Every employer of inter-State migrant workmen carrying on the employment of inter-State migrant workmen shall make an application in Form VII to the Registering Officer within ten days, accompanied by a fee of one hundred rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the employment of inter-State migrant workmen is undertaken, and the Registering Officer shall dispose of it within ten days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Law Department, Government of Karnataka.
