OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The holding of land in excess of the ceiling by holders of land in excess of the ceiling under the West Bengal Land Reforms Act, 1955, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Law Department, Government of West Bengal on the manner in which the holding of land in excess of the ceiling by holders of land in excess of the ceiling is to be regulated under the West Bengal Land Reforms Act, 1955.

2. The matter has been examined. Every holder of land in excess of the ceiling carrying on the holding of land in excess of the ceiling shall make an application in Form 3 to the Board of Revenue within one hundred and eighty days, accompanied by a fee of two hundred rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the holding of land in excess of the ceiling is undertaken, and the Board of Revenue shall dispose of it within one hundred and eighty days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Law Department, Government of West Bengal.
