STANDING ORDER

To

All Marriage Officers,

Subject: The performance of marriage ceremonies by registered priests under the Uttarakhand Uniform Civil Code Act, 2024, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Uttarakhand Uniform Civil Code Act, 2024 (Uttarakhand Act 3 of 2024), the Law Department, Government of Uttarakhand hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the performance of marriage ceremonies by registered priests.

2. The matter has been examined. Every registered priest carrying on the performance of marriage ceremonies shall make an application in Form VII to the Maintenance Tribunal within fourteen days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. The Marriage Officer shall ensure that will is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Maintenance Tribunal within fourteen days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Law Department, Government of Uttarakhand.
