OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The testing of motor vehicles for fitness by operators of a testing station under the Kerala Motor Transport Workers Welfare Fund Act, 1985, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Transport Department, Government of Kerala on the manner in which the testing of motor vehicles for fitness by operators of a testing station is to be regulated under the Kerala Motor Transport Workers Welfare Fund Act, 1985.

2. The matter has been examined. Every operator of a testing station carrying on the testing of motor vehicles for fitness shall make an application in Form 38 to the State Transport Authority within forty-five days, accompanied by a fee of one hundred rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the testing of motor vehicles for fitness is undertaken, and the State Transport Authority shall dispose of it within forty-five days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Transport Department, Government of Kerala.
