STANDING ORDER

To

All Canal Officers,

Subject: The management of an irrigation system by a water user association by water user associations under the Kerala Ground Water (Control and Regulation) Act, 2002, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Kerala Ground Water (Control and Regulation) Act, 2002 (Kerala Act 19 of 2002), the Labour Department, Government of Kerala hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the management of an irrigation system by a water user association by water user associations.

2. The matter has been examined. Every water user association carrying on the management of an irrigation system by a water user association shall make an application in Form A to the Government of Kerala within ninety days, accompanied by a fee of two hundred and fifty rupees.

3. The Canal Officer shall ensure that works is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Government of Kerala within ninety days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Labour Department, Government of Kerala.
