STANDING ORDER

To

All Village Development Officers,

Subject: The keeping of a shop in a village market by shopkeepers in a village market under the Maharashtra Village Panchayats Act, 1959, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Maharashtra Village Panchayats Act, 1959 (Maharashtra Act 3 of 1959), the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the keeping of a shop in a village market by shopkeepers in a village market.

2. The matter has been examined. Every shopkeeper in a village market carrying on the keeping of a shop in a village market shall make an application in Form 3 to the Panchayat Samiti within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of one thousand rupees.

3. The Village Development Officer shall ensure that licence is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Panchayat Samiti within thirty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Maharashtra.
