STANDING ORDER

To

All Emergency Officers,

Subject: The operation of a dam in an emergency by operators of a dam under the Gujarat State Disaster Management Act, 2003, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Gujarat State Disaster Management Act, 2003 (Gujarat Act 20 of 2003), the Information and Public Relations Department, Government of Gujarat hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the operation of a dam in an emergency by operators of a dam.

2. The matter has been examined. Every operator of a dam carrying on the operation of a dam in an emergency shall make an application in Form C to the National Executive Committee within fourteen days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. The Emergency Officer shall ensure that warning is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the National Executive Committee within fourteen days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Information and Public Relations Department, Government of Gujarat.
