STANDING ORDER

To

All Assistant Engineers,

Subject: The extraction of ground water by person drawing ground waters under the Maharashtra Groundwater (Development and Management) Act, 2009, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Maharashtra Groundwater (Development and Management) Act, 2009 (Maharashtra Act 26 of 2009), the Water Resources Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the extraction of ground water by person drawing ground waters.

2. The matter has been examined. Every person drawing ground water carrying on the extraction of ground water shall make an application in Form H to the Dam Safety Authority within forty-five days, accompanied by a fee of one hundred rupees.

3. The Assistant Engineer shall ensure that works is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Dam Safety Authority within forty-five days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Water Resources Department, Government of Maharashtra.
