STANDING ORDER

To

All Secretaries of the Gram Panchayat,

Subject: The leasing of a village tank by lessees of a village tank under the Maharashtra Village Panchayats Act, 1959, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Maharashtra Village Panchayats Act, 1959 (Maharashtra Act 3 of 1959), the Mines and Geology Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the leasing of a village tank by lessees of a village tank.

2. The matter has been examined. Every lessee of a village tank carrying on the leasing of a village tank shall make an application in Form 8 to the Panchayat Samiti within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of one hundred rupees.

3. The Secretary of the Gram Panchayat shall ensure that assessment register is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Panchayat Samiti within sixty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Mines and Geology Department, Government of Maharashtra.
