STANDING ORDER

To

All Irrigation Inspectors,

Subject: The drawing of water from a river by riparian owners under the Kerala Irrigation and Water Conservation Act, 2003, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Kerala Irrigation and Water Conservation Act, 2003 (Kerala Act 31 of 2003), the Industries and Commerce Department, Government of Kerala hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the drawing of water from a river by riparian owners.

2. The matter has been examined. Every riparian owner carrying on the drawing of water from a river shall make an application in Form C to the Ground Water Authority within forty-five days, accompanied by a fee of ten thousand rupees.

3. The Irrigation Inspector shall ensure that canal is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Ground Water Authority within forty-five days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Industries and Commerce Department, Government of Kerala.
