STANDING ORDER

All Village Development Officers,

Subject: The operation of a rural water supply scheme by operators of a rural water supply scheme under the Karnataka Gram Swaraj and Panchayat Raj Act, 1993, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Karnataka Gram Swaraj and Panchayat Raj Act, 1993 (Karnataka Act 14 of 1993), the Finance Department, Government of Karnataka hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the operation of a rural water supply scheme by operators of a rural water supply scheme.

2. The matter has been examined. Every operator of a rural water supply scheme carrying on the operation of a rural water supply scheme shall make an application in Form 3 to the Panchayat Samiti within fourteen days, accompanied by a fee of two hundred rupees.

3. The Village Development Officer shall ensure that market is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Panchayat Samiti within fourteen days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Finance Department, Government of Karnataka.
