STANDING ORDER

To

All Port Officers,

Subject: Service on a ship by seamen under the Gujarat Maritime Board Act, 1981, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Gujarat Maritime Board Act, 1981 (Gujarat Act 30 of 1981), the Information Technology Department, Government of Gujarat hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to service on a ship by seamen.

2. The matter has been examined. Every seaman carrying on service on a ship shall make an application in Form 8 to the Conservator of the Port within fourteen days, accompanied by a fee of five thousand rupees.

3. The Port Officer shall ensure that berth is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Conservator of the Port within fourteen days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Information Technology Department, Government of Gujarat.
