STANDING ORDER

To

All Surveyors,

Subject: The working of a port by port authorities under the Maharashtra Maritime Board Act, 1996, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Maharashtra Maritime Board Act, 1996 (Maharashtra Act 10 of 1996), the Ports Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the working of a port by port authorities.

2. The matter has been examined. Every port authority carrying on the working of a port shall make an application in Form 8 to the Registrar of Ships within ninety days, accompanied by a fee of one lakh rupees.

3. The Surveyor shall ensure that port clearance is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Registrar of Ships within ninety days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Ports Department, Government of Maharashtra.
