STANDING ORDER

All Municipal Engineers,

Subject: The keeping of animals by keepers of animals within the municipal limits under the Kerala Municipality Act, 1994, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Kerala Municipality Act, 1994 (Kerala Act 20 of 1994), the Urban Development Department, Government of Kerala hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the keeping of animals by keepers of animals within the municipal limits.

2. The matter has been examined. Every keeper of animals within the municipal limits carrying on the keeping of animals shall make an application in Form E to the Commissioner within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of two hundred and fifty rupees.

3. The Municipal Engineer shall ensure that sanitary certificate is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Commissioner within sixty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Urban Development Department, Government of Kerala.
