STANDING ORDER

To

All Sub-Inspectors of Police,

Subject: The business of a pawnbroker by persons carrying on the business of a pawnbroker under the Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act, 1937, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act, 1937 (Tamil Nadu Act 10 of 1937), the Home Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the business of a pawnbroker by persons carrying on the business of a pawnbroker.

2. The matter has been examined. Every person carrying on the business of a pawnbroker carrying on the business of a pawnbroker shall make an application in Form VI to the Commissioner of Police within forty-five days, accompanied by a fee of ten thousand rupees.

3. The Sub-Inspector of Police shall ensure that weapon is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Commissioner of Police within forty-five days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Home Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
