STANDING ORDER

To

All Assessors,

Subject: The connection of a private drain to the municipal sewer by owners of a private drain under the Chennai City Municipal Corporation Act, 1919, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Chennai City Municipal Corporation Act, 1919 (Tamil Nadu Act 4 of 1919), the Mines and Geology Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the connection of a private drain to the municipal sewer by owners of a private drain.

2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a private drain carrying on the connection of a private drain to the municipal sewer shall make an application in Form A to the Town Planning Authority within seven days, accompanied by a fee of five thousand rupees.

3. The Assessor shall ensure that licence is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Town Planning Authority within seven days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Mines and Geology Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
