STANDING ORDER

All Deputy Labour Commissioners,

Subject: The running of a commercial establishment by keepers of a commercial establishment under the Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1962, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1962 (Karnataka Act 8 of 1962), the Labour Department, Government of Karnataka hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the running of a commercial establishment by keepers of a commercial establishment.

2. The matter has been examined. Every keeper of a commercial establishment carrying on the running of a commercial establishment shall make an application in Form II to the Licensing Officer within ninety days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. The Deputy Labour Commissioner shall ensure that standing order is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Licensing Officer within ninety days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Labour Department, Government of Karnataka.
