STANDING ORDER

All Municipal Commissioners,

Subject: The keeping of a lodging house by owners of a lodging house under the Chennai City Municipal Corporation Act, 1919, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Chennai City Municipal Corporation Act, 1919 (Tamil Nadu Act 4 of 1919), the Revenue Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the keeping of a lodging house by owners of a lodging house.

2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a lodging house carrying on the keeping of a lodging house shall make an application in Form B to the Municipal Council within seven days, accompanied by a fee of one thousand rupees.

3. The Municipal Commissioner shall ensure that register of properties is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Municipal Council within seven days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Revenue Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
