STANDING ORDER

To

All Site Managers,

Subject: The occupation of land near a monument by occupiers of land near a monument under the Maharashtra Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1960, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Maharashtra Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1960 (Maharashtra Act 12 of 1960), the Tourism Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the occupation of land near a monument by occupiers of land near a monument.

2. The matter has been examined. Every occupier of land near a monument carrying on the occupation of land near a monument shall make an application in Form II to the Director General within forty-five days, accompanied by a fee of five thousand rupees.

3. The Site Manager shall ensure that licence is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Director General within forty-five days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Tourism Department, Government of Maharashtra.
