STANDING ORDER

To

All Registrars of Marriages,

Subject: The registration of births and deaths by registrars of births and deaths under the Karnataka Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Act, 1997, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Karnataka Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Act, 1997 (Karnataka Act 33 of 1997), the Law Department, Government of Karnataka hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the registration of births and deaths by registrars of births and deaths.

2. The matter has been examined. Every registrar of births and deaths carrying on the registration of births and deaths shall make an application in Form II to the Family Court within seven days, accompanied by a fee of two thousand rupees.

3. The Registrar of Marriages shall ensure that declaration is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Family Court within seven days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Law Department, Government of Karnataka.
