STANDING ORDER

To

All Tourist Officers,

Subject: The occupation of land near a monument by occupiers of land near a monument under the Maharashtra Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1960, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Maharashtra Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1960 (Maharashtra Act 12 of 1960), the Finance Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the occupation of land near a monument by occupiers of land near a monument.

2. The matter has been examined. Every occupier of land near a monument carrying on the occupation of land near a monument shall make an application in Form V to the Museum Board within one hundred and twenty days, accompanied by a fee of five thousand rupees.

3. The Tourist Officer shall ensure that entry ticket is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Museum Board within one hundred and twenty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Finance Department, Government of Maharashtra.
