STANDING ORDER

To

All Assistant Regional Transport Officers,

Subject: The use of a motor vehicle by owners of a motor vehicle under the Tamil Nadu Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1974, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1974 (Tamil Nadu Act 13 of 1974), the Mines and Geology Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the use of a motor vehicle by owners of a motor vehicle.

2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a motor vehicle carrying on the use of a motor vehicle shall make an application in Form 23 to the State Transport Appellate Tribunal within forty-five days, accompanied by a fee of five thousand rupees.

3. The Assistant Regional Transport Officer shall ensure that register of vehicles is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the State Transport Appellate Tribunal within forty-five days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Mines and Geology Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
