STANDING ORDER

To

All Sub-Registrars,

Subject: The franking of instruments by franking machine licensees under the Maharashtra Stamp Act, 1958, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Maharashtra Stamp Act, 1958 (Maharashtra Act 60 of 1958), the Registration and Stamps Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the franking of instruments by franking machine licensees.

2. The matter has been examined. Every franking machine licensee carrying on the franking of instruments shall make an application in Form H to the Inspector General of Registration within forty-five days, accompanied by a fee of fifty rupees.

3. The Sub-Registrar shall ensure that adjudication is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Inspector General of Registration within forty-five days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Registration and Stamps Department, Government of Maharashtra.
