STANDING ORDER

To

All Patwaris,

Subject: The holding of land by landholders under the West Bengal Estates Acquisition Act, 1954, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the West Bengal Estates Acquisition Act, 1954 (West Bengal Act 1 of 1954), the Mines and Geology Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the holding of land by landholders.

2. The matter has been examined. Every landholder carrying on the holding of land shall make an application in Form 14 to the Revenue Divisional Officer within ninety days, accompanied by a fee of two thousand rupees.

3. The Patwari shall ensure that register of holdings is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Revenue Divisional Officer within ninety days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Mines and Geology Department, Government of West Bengal.
