STANDING ORDER

To

All Village Accountants,

Subject: The sinking of a well on Government land by owners of a well on Government land under the West Bengal Estates Acquisition Act, 1954, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the West Bengal Estates Acquisition Act, 1954 (West Bengal Act 1 of 1954), the Information and Public Relations Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the sinking of a well on Government land by owners of a well on Government land.

2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a well on Government land carrying on the sinking of a well on Government land shall make an application in Form 2 to the Tahsildar within seven days, accompanied by a fee of ten rupees.

3. The Village Accountant shall ensure that record of rights is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Tahsildar within seven days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Information and Public Relations Department, Government of West Bengal.
