STANDING ORDER

To

All Excise Superintendents,

Subject: The cultivation of hemp under licence by cultivators of hemp under the West Bengal Excise Act, 1909, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the West Bengal Excise Act, 1909 (West Bengal Act 5 of 1909), the Consumer Affairs Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the cultivation of hemp under licence by cultivators of hemp.

2. The matter has been examined. Every cultivator of hemp carrying on the cultivation of hemp under licence shall make an application in Form C to the Collector within fifteen days, accompanied by a fee of fifty thousand rupees.

3. The Excise Superintendent shall ensure that licence is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Collector within fifteen days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Consumer Affairs Department, Government of West Bengal.
