STANDING ORDER

To

All Panchayat Development Officers,

Subject: The operation of a ferry by operators of a ferry under the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973 (West Bengal Act 41 of 1973), the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the operation of a ferry by operators of a ferry.

2. The matter has been examined. Every operator of a ferry carrying on the operation of a ferry shall make an application in Form 7 to the Block Development Officer within fifteen days, accompanied by a fee of two hundred rupees.

3. The Panchayat Development Officer shall ensure that tax receipt is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Block Development Officer within fifteen days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of West Bengal.
