STANDING ORDER

All Village Accountants,

Subject: The taking of a mortgage of agricultural land by mortgagees of agricultural land under the Tamil Nadu Cultivating Tenants Protection Act, 1955, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Cultivating Tenants Protection Act, 1955 (Tamil Nadu Act 25 of 1955), the Revenue Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the taking of a mortgage of agricultural land by mortgagees of agricultural land.

2. The matter has been examined. Every mortgagee of agricultural land carrying on the taking of a mortgage of agricultural land shall make an application in Form 3 to the Tahsildar within ninety days, accompanied by a fee of two thousand rupees.

3. The Village Accountant shall ensure that survey number is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Tahsildar within ninety days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Revenue Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
