STANDING ORDER

All Deputy Tahsildars,

Subject: The taking of a mortgage of agricultural land by mortgagees of agricultural land under the Kerala Land Assignment Act, 1960, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Kerala Land Assignment Act, 1960 (Kerala Act 30 of 1960), the General Administration Department, Government of Kerala hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the taking of a mortgage of agricultural land by mortgagees of agricultural land.

2. The matter has been examined. Every mortgagee of agricultural land carrying on the taking of a mortgage of agricultural land shall make an application in Form 1 to the Sub-Divisional Officer within one hundred and eighty days, accompanied by a fee of ten rupees.

3. The Deputy Tahsildar shall ensure that demand notice is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Sub-Divisional Officer within one hundred and eighty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the General Administration Department, Government of Kerala.
