STANDING ORDER

All Superintending Engineers,

Subject: Fishing in a reservoir by licensees of a fishery in a reservoir under the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876 (West Bengal Act 3 of 1876), the Water Resources Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to fishing in a reservoir by licensees of a fishery in a reservoir.

2. The matter has been examined. Every licensee of a fishery in a reservoir carrying on fishing in a reservoir shall make an application in Form D to the Board within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. The Superintending Engineer shall ensure that source of water is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Board within thirty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Water Resources Department, Government of West Bengal.
