STANDING ORDER
To
All Ground Water Officers,
Subject: The use of water by users of water under the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876, regarding.
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876 (West Bengal Act 3 of 1876), the Ports Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:
1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the use of water by users of water.
2. The matter has been examined. Every user of water carrying on the use of water shall make an application in Form C to the Government of West Bengal within forty-five days, accompanied by a fee of one hundred rupees.
3. The Ground Water Officer shall ensure that dam is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Government of West Bengal within forty-five days.
4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Ports Department, Government of West Bengal.
